Defender 110: Snow plough and gritter (2011)

Land Rover boasts of being able to 'go anywhere'. Well this Defender 110 can venture out even in the harshest conditions. By clearing the way and using its rear mounted grit spreader it can help others do the same. This vehicle has come to us having been retired by a Scottish Local Authority where it more than earned its keep for a number of months each year. Although the tough Raptor paint finish is very impressive, we question why anyone would paint a snow plough white?

This vehicle talks to the very founding principal of our collection. Presenting examples that illustrate the sheer versatility of the Land Rover concept that has given rise to its acceptance as the most flexible platform upon which to evolve this sublime British Workhorse. The value of this vehicle to the collection is therefore that it is yet another example of the way the Defender's chassis construction lends itself so well to meaningful commercial adaptions. In this way the Land Rover has earned universal acclaim as a vehicle second to none in terms of the breadth of utility that it offers to the workplace of whatever nature.

So, 62 years on from the first use of Land Rover's advertising slogan "the Go Anywhere Vehicle", 'CCX' proves that boast still holds true!
