We had a couple of gaps in the collection that were troubling us, those being the lack of a Series III Station Wagon and an exhibit that illustrates the safari roof. Then we got wind of this opportunity to kill these two, proverbial, birds with one stone. We were soon on our way to Norfolk to take a look for ourselves. Trailer in tow. Good job it was too because this vehicle had the distinction of being fitted with not one, but two, power units.
The spare power unit (an unusual straight 6) was loaded up with the main prize and both were soon on their way back to Collection HQ in Somerset.
There was however yet a further unexpected bonus. The vehicle still had a barely used roof tent which the owner kindly chucked in. So not only have we plugged a couple of gaps in the Collection, but we now have somewhere to stay if we find ourselves working late into the night – or perhaps a somewhere to rest up if we are exhibiting at shows far from home.
