We couldn’t resist …

Land Rovers never die … they just sit around in a field waiting to be rescued”

One of the boyhood memories of the founder of the Heritage Collection was climbing in, on and around the Land Rover recovery truck at his father’s village garage back in the 60’s. So imagine how he felt when we got wind of this Series IIA Recovery Truck sitting in a field in Gloucestershire waiting for a sympathetic soul to come along.

First registered in 1965, around the same time of those reminiscences, this 109″ boasts a rear mounted Harvey Frost Crane and an original LR winch up front. The crane is in pretty good nick and we believe that the winch can be brought back into good fettle with a little work by specialists, LR Optional Equipment in Rutland.

The vehicle itself will however need a little more care and attention. We are therefore adding its restoration to our list of projects with a view to it joining our collection in a year or two. We want to do a proper job so it will be a while before you see it on show. But over the months ahead we will post updates here as the work progresses.

If anyone can tell us more about this vehicle, we’d love to hear from you.
